MINT Musium - Moment of Imagination and Nostalgia with Toys
MINT Museum of Toys houses a world-class collection of vintage toys and collectable items in an international award-winning contemporary building on 26 Seah Street. Since its inauguration, the museum has expanded its collection, amassing over 50,000 items, 8000 of which are on display in the museum. The toys and items hail from over 40 countries and range in date from the 1840s to 1970s. These are displayed across the rooftop, basement and 4 thematic levels of the museum: Outerspace, Characters, Childhood Favourites and Collectables. The collection is made up of various key collections, including Batman, Dan Dare, Japanese character and space-related toys, and collectables.
In addition to toys, the museum houses a collection of confectionary vintage tin boxes, large-item displays, such as Mobo horses and pedal cars, as well as original enamel advertising signs. Over the years, these have been incorporated into various exhibitions and programmes run by the museum, serving as windows into the past as well as inspirations for the present. Today, MINT Museum of Toys serves diverse and expanding audiences, including tourists, families, collectors, artists and students. It continues to fascinate and inspire the imaginations of audiences, taking them to on a journey of rediscovery to rekindle that Moment of Imagination and Nostalgia with Toys (MINT).
The museum began as an idea in the mind of founding CEO, Mr Chang Yang Fa. Driven by his passion for design and the arts, Mr Chang, who is an avid toy collector, imagined a space that is devoted to presenting vintage toys and childhood memorabilia – a space where visitors can also rediscover the past and revisit wonderful childhood memories. When Mr Chang founded MINT Museum of Toys in 2007, it was the first museum in the world known to be purpose-built for toys, and to date, it remains to be the only one. MINT was envisioned to be a world-class toy museum, with the objective of reaching out to the child in each and every person. Today, it continues to promote that belief.
The building was also conceptualized to be a space that would provide visitors with a holistic experience. In 2007, the retail space, MINT Shop, and the dining space opened alongside the museum, promoting both the spirit of imagination and nostalgia. Later in 2015, the dining space evolved to become Mr Punch Public House, a gastrobar serving modern European cuisine. The name took inspiration from the museum’s collection of Punch & Judy puppets. The space doubles also as an enamel sign gallery.

Diggersite is a new destination for family and kids. The Chinatown Heritage Centre is the gateway for all visitors to trace the footsteps of Singapore's early pioneers and discover the personal stories of people who made Chinatown their home. Located within three beautifully-restored shophouses on Pagoda Street, the Chinatown Heritage Centre is the only place in Singapore that has recreated the original interiors of its shophouse tenants in the 1950s, offering a rare glimpse into the lives of Chinatown's early residents. Visitors will get to step into the humble homes of Chinatown's early residents, rebuilt with the memories of many who had lived, worked and grown up in such cubicles. These small 'eight by eight' living quarters were simply furnished and every object tells a story, providing an insight into their struggles and sacrifices, aspirations and disappointments, love and joy.
The Chinatown Heritage Centre also traces the journey of Singapore's early pioneers who left their villages in China and made their way to Nanyang, the southern seas. They were driven by famine, floods and unrest, and came to Singapore with the hope of earning a living and seeking a better life. New foreign sights, sounds and smells greeted the Chinese immigrants also known as sinkheh (meaning 'new guest' in Hokkien dialect) when they arrived in Singapore. Disembarking at the piers, they would have seen labourers and traders at work – Armenians, Europeans, Jews, Arabs, Parsis, Bugis, Indians – just to name a few. It would have been their first time seeing someone of another ethnicity. Most of the Chinese immigrants settled south of the Singapore River, giving birth to Chinatown.

Singapore Science Centre
A visit to the Science Centre can take many forms. Whether you are a family looking for a fun and educational outing, a teacher planning a school excursion, a tourist with a couple of hours to fill, or a science enthusiast wishing to expand your already broad horizons even further, you will find something interesting at the Science Centre. To visit a particular exhibition or have a quick overview of the centre, one or two hours may be enough, but if you want the full experience of interacting with all our exhibitions, shows and activities, you will need more than a whole day.
The Science Centre’s exhibition galleries feature more than 1000 individual exhibits, most of which are interactive and hands-on. To see all of these in one visit is virtually impossible, so we recommend you select a couple of exhibitions and take your time to explore them. You can always come back another day to see the rest! You can even see us when your are overseas! Our Travelling Exhibitions are loan/lease to various international venues. In addition to the "permanent" exhibitions here, you will want to visit our mid-year and end-of-year "blockbuster" exhibitions which add to the excitement of Science - always something new to learn.
